Crabbies Warehouse, Leith, Edinburgh

TYPE: Conversion

SIZE: 50 Apartments

VALUE: £7,500,000

When the most senior surviving member of this famous whisky family, John Crabbie, arrived at the show flat to check up on what had been done to their building he was heard to say “Who would have thought?” The sales staff were delighted with this endorsement because Gregor Shore’s design team are always extremely sympathetic to the character of period buildings and Crabbie’s Warehouse was no exception.

An inner courtyard was created round the blocks that were to the south east corner of the complex: a pond, steps, flowerbeds, even a barbecue area now dominates this former yard. Fifty Loft-style apartments were completed with bright well-proportioned accommodation ranging from 1,2 & 3 bedrooms. There were two rather interesting Duplex penthouses with unusual mezzanine terrace rooms. Once again, the public received those with great appeal, all flats were sold very quickly and reported re-sales since have shown considerable growth in value.
