The Crescent, Leith, Edinburgh

Completed during the spring of 2004, The Crescent by the Shore was Gregor Shore’s first contemporary building in Leith. The radical approach to the architecture appealed to a wide audience, far beyond the 62 happy customers who bought apartments there. The concept was to follow the curvature of the corner site, which led to an array of interestingly, shaped apartments. The colours transformed what was a rather dull tired corner, into a bright, bold statement, congruent with this important junction.

From a technical point of view, the development presented the company with an excellent opportunity to utilise the very latest in building materials and techniques. It was whilst on site at The Crescent that many of the challenges associated with groundbreaking ideas could be tackled in preparation for the larger, more substantial projects that were to follow.
